If you are looking for a bed you can take with you camping in the summer and to relatives homes any time of the year, this bed works fairly well for short term use and is a quick and cheap solution. I find the Coleman beds last quite a long time, even though you will eventually find yourself on the floor due to the many problems that can occur with placing an airbed on the floor. For one, sharp objects will easily puncture the bed and this includes playful cats tossing about toys near the bed or like my cat loves to do, pushing a cat toy under the bed and retrieving it again.

I’ve lost two beds this way, but this can be solved by placing a thick mattress cover over the bed. Sharp objects under the carpet may also puncture the bed although this bed has an exclusive PVC and the airtight system is guaranteed not to leak. I find that we deflate this bed in the morning and inflate it again at night, so this isn’t really a problem, although after two days, you may notice air has leaked out a little bit more than you expect.

The comfortsmart coil system helps the bed to conform to your body for better support, which means you might like this bed better than a regular mattress. In my short lifetime I’ve purchased quite a few of these beds and more expensive doesn’t mean more comfortable. To be honest, this is more comfortable than the Aero beds with the pillow top.

If the bed looses air, you might want to take a look at the inflation instructions where it shows the internal seal and the internal yellow post and how you can completely seal the valve in a two-step process.

“Air temperature and weather do affect the air pressure in inflatable products. In cold weather your airbed will lose some pressure due to the fact that the air will contract.”

So, to avoid this happening, we use a heating blanket on the bed.

One thing I will say about Coleman, they stand by

their warranty. With Aero, I found it difficult

to even return a bed or to find a return address

at their site.

Bought this for friends staying the night. Bought it from Target, on sale, was ~20$ and I bought a Greatland electric airpump ~18$ (many other pumps require charging 12 hrs before use, watch out for this! Also, this pump has 3 adjustable nozzles, so it worked with Coleman bed just fine).

This bed was very comfortable and didn’t leak. It is suede-flocked, but I put an extra fowm pad on top and a mattress pad over that. It comes with an attached wrap/holder for the deflated mattress. The air intake valve is a neat design, lets you stop airflow out before removing the pump, so air doesn’t whoosh out when you’re done pumping. ((Greatland basic line beds, unlike this Coleman, have an extra mouth-nozzle because they don’t have this airstop valve. So this bed required no extra hassle with mouth-blowing extra air in because of poor engineering!)

I made a brief foray into air mattress quality websites and reviews before buying this, and realized that high quality and height and auto-deflate etc only really mattered if I was going to sleep on this bed all the time. (I’m not, but these are things to consider if you are!!) Just from previous camping/overnight general use, I’ve found that the biggest difference in comfort is in having something warm on top of the mattress (thick mattress pad or foam layer underneath), so I did that and the sleepers said it was great.

Not sure how long it will last, but at ~20$ it was cheap and did it’s job nicely. Plus, I got the funky brown/tan color which was fittingly retro for an airbed in the living room set-up…

I bought a pair of these mattresses at the last minute on price alone because we needed a pair of twins in a hurry. They held their air through four full days/nights of camping by two teenage boys. They boys like to flop down and bounce around – goofing off as kids do.

We used standard twin sheets which stayed tucked in. The mattresses did not get cold in the night (the flocking helps) and never lost a bit of air. They were very quick to inflate, quick to deflate, and easy to roll up to pack for the next trip. Winners… who knew? Now YOU do.

Update. The review above was written during the summer. The mattresses were since stored in a covered tub in our hot Florida attic for many months until being pulled out for a Thanksgiving camping trip. Once again these mattresses held up to the teenager test. They were just as supple and fresh as the first day out of the box. I’m really happy with these and plan to use them again in another few months.

I like it better than the coleman air mattresses I purchased, for comfort. I find the tube design better that the the mock coils, you don’t drift toward middle on this one. But duration seems to be lacking in all the brands I have tried. They last about 10 to 14 days fully aired up and then they begin the wilt process nightly. Doesn’t totally deflate, just gets to the squishy point, which is annoying come morning. I found the locking cap a bit tricky to operate as well. Need to revamp the design.

First off, at 6’3″. and 235 lbs. — it takes a decent heavy duty mattress to be comfortable. Putting a knee on a Colman “air” mattress will cause seam leaks, if it is full, done that twice. So I looked for a heavier duty one at a reasonable price. The 3 in. thickness is a big deal at night, I tried 1″ thick mats a while back, and would not like to have to spend a week on one. They all need inflating/deflating cycles to break in — and several times before real use!

The thicker 3″ texsport is way more comfy than the measly 1 inch mat. The self inflating is also the only real way to avoid packing a hand pump, or elect. inflator. Most of my boat building buddies pack self inflators. Yes, they pack bigger but not so much that you would do without it, unless you are young and can sleep on rocks anyhow.

After breaking in, inflate for use, seal the cap, and your own body heat will help inflate it more as the air warms up. I thought it was a bit thin but now it is indeed three full inches thick, takes a few nights first. I put a blanket between the mattress and my bag, so the “dimples” are less noticable. Be sure to crack the valve in the morning, as sun or hot weather can inflate it (maybe) a bit too much, closing it at dinner time works for me.

I am very happy with this mattress, and expect it to hold up way beyond the “air only” type, and the foam inside makes it a bit warmer to sleep on too.

I ordered this to use with a heavy duty cot: both Texsport. They arrived together, cot is excellent…however, the pad could use improvement. Following the directions, I inflated/deflated it three times. Then used it overnight (inside) as practice run. As others have said, while not the Sealy Posturpedic of the camp-out world, it is superior to the solid 1/2″ cell foam pads, and is sized for adult males. My problem is that upon deflating/rolling up one of the securing buckles failed: center pin broke. The buckles are vital to keeping it compressed and they are very flimsy nylon. The shell of the pad seems to be rugged enough as does the belt material for the securing straps, but the buckles are destined to fail under pressure from the compressed pad. In fairness, Texsport took it back for warranty replacment, but I had to call after sending it back to verify they got it and were sending a replacement (3 wks later). I am, however, still out the UPS fee to send it back for replacement. In retrospect, I should have looked further (and maybe paid a little more) as the replacement has the same flimsy-looking buckles. I just noticed other reviewers were asked about how much this weighs. “Lightweight” is a relative term – the UPS label was for 8.0 lbs, the outer wrapper and box weigh maybe a pound…so it’s still substantially more than the 5.2 lb shipping weight in the product description area.

My daughter has been sleeping on this in the guest room for 3 months, it must be nice and comfy because she’s still here! Seriously, she hasn’t had to reinflate it at all and says it’s quite comfortable. I’m adding a mattress pad and that should make it almost as high-end as a Select Comfort! At the price it is now, you should get one!

We got these for extra guest beds (bought 2). Our girls already had a sleep over and these were big enough for 2 tweens on each mattress. Set up took a couple of minutes. As suggested in another review I didn’t fill it completly as it give them a “stiff” feel. The material seems sturdy, so far it’s survived a sleep over party party of 6 and an indoor camp out. We’re even taking them to a family reunion next March. Great buy for the price.

When I’m going on a family camping trip where there is no packing involved and all I have to do is set up the tent and gear, I always take along this Coleman flocked Queen size bed for my wife and I. It is pretty easy to inflate (especially with the Quickpump), and is so comfortable I sometimes almost forget I’m sleeping on the ground. We also use this mattress a lot at home when we have lots of company and don’t have enough beds to go around.My one complaint with this bed, and one which I have heard others share, is that it is not big enough. It is supposed to be a queen size bed, but it just doesn’t seem as large as our queen size bed at home. Aside from this minor complaint, however, the Coleman flocked mattress has served me well. In fact, I slept on one for the first month I was away from home at college, and was still satisfied with its comfort after sleeping on it for over four weeks.

I have never had a problem with deflation while I was using it. Whether you are having relatives over and giving up your king size bed, you are traveling to family where there are simply no extra beds or you are looking for a bed to take on your camping trip, this is a nice spare bed to have on hand for every occasion.

After my Aero Bed deflated in the middle of the night the last time my parents came to visit, I tossed it out into the garbage and bought this one. When we moved into our new place and had still not moved all the furniture we spent the night camping out on this bed.

The bed inflates in under three minutes if you get one of the Ozark Trail Electric Air Pumps. I almost prefer the pump not to be attached to the bed, as is the case in the aero beds.

It took a few minutes to figure out the advanced double lock valve, but it makes inflation and deflation fast and simple.

This bed holds up to 600lbs and has a extra thick heavy-duty PVC with rayon flocked top. 56 coils provide more strength and firmness. I’d say it was almost more comfortable than my old Aero bed.

Perfect for camping, guests, an extra bed you can put out in the living room to watch movies on, etc, etc. This bed also can be stored in a very small space.

Fairly comfortable and perfect for short term use. Works with your flat or fitted sheets and is guaranteed not to leak or you can return it for a replacement.

We’ve got three of these air mattresses for our kids (my wife and I have a queen size for us) when we’re car camping and also to make the mattresses in our RV more comfortable.

They’re not heavy, they inflate quickly and easily (I recommend the 4D inflator) and deflate and store away just as easily. I leave them a little bit “mushy” so that the kids don’t feel like they’re sleeping on a board. They’re far and away more comfortable than the thin little sleeping pads (even the self-inflators) that we use for canoe camping and backpacking.

I did puncture one on the sharp corner of our RV door, but that’s the only problem I’ve ever had with them.

I was initially using a 12v inflator to pump them up, but learned quickly that the smaller 4D inflator is far superior and more convenient.

For the price and the comfort they give you for that price, I recommend them to anyone. You can get better, but it will certainly cost you.

This mattress is certainly not as good as the higher end alternatives,

however for the price it isn’t bad and is better than the lightweight

backpacking pads that I normally sleep on when camping. Note that it doesn’t come with an air pump so you’ll need to decide what type

you’ll get for it.

For folks thinking about camping in cold weather, realize that it doesn’t

insulate very well (nor do most pure air mattresses) so you’ll want to think about warmth. For summer/warm weather camping or as an extra mattress for kids, it is fine. Do be careful about not placing it on/near

something which will puncture it. I never had a leak, but I’ve been very

careful with both it and my backpacking pads.

After researching many of the other more expensive, self-inflating air beds, I decided to purchase the Coleman 4-in-1 Quickbed for overnight guests. It’s less than half the price of an average twin size Aero Bed and much more versatile as it can be configured as two twins, one king, or one double-height twin. You do need to buy a separate pump, but the Coleman pump is inexpensive and can be used for other inflating/deflating purposes (e.g., pool toys, vaccuum storage bags, etc.). Each mattress inflates and deflates in just a couple minutes, and it’s quite easy to roll it up for storage. It’s comfortable both as a single matress or double height. I ended up buying a second 4-in-1 Quickbed, so now I can accommodate up to 4 overnight guests for less than 0. I can’t vouch for how long it will last, but even if it sprung a leak after a couple years of periodic use, it would still be worth it at this low price.

I don’t normally review things, but this was such a good purchase that I can’t resist…

I recently moved about 400 miles and into a big city apartment. I didn’t have a lot of furniture, so it seemed kind of silly to rent a moving van just for a bed. Finally, after looking at a million different styles, I decided I’d try this inflatable bed. It’s compact, so I could just squeeze it into the car with the rest of the luggage. I wouldn’t have to fight to get a bed frame and mattress up the apartment stairs. Plus, I figured if I hated it, I could find a ‘real’ bed at some point.

I LOVE this bed. I’ve been sleeping on it every night for over 6 weeks and have never (yet) had to refill the air in it. Separating the twin beds is easy, and comes in handy when guests come visit.

One tiny tiny con… The very first time you lay on this bed, it is awkward and uncomfortable. I’m not gonna lie. However, after about 30 minutes, you get used to the ‘water bed’ feeling, and the whole bed feels insanely comfortable. It’s like it takes the bed (or the PVC material) 30 minutes or so to ‘relax’… Also, it did not come with a pump, so I had to buy one for 15.99. *shrugs*

I would never go back to a ‘regular’ bed. This bed can be an elevated twin bed, a king size, two twins, compacts down to about a 10 pound parcel with a carrying strap, is as comfortable as a spring mattress and cost me forty bucks.

Highly recommended.

*EDIT*– June 11th 2008. Still sleeping on the bed nightly, *still* working wonderfully! The ‘top’ mattress (when stacked) does need an occasional bit of air every few weeks, but no big deal.

This bed is a step above the Aerobed. Unlike my previous 2 aerobeds, this mattress doesn’t leak. None at all over an 8 day period of guests. Not even a slow leak. None! Pump is quick and the power deflate is a real time and space saver. Flocking on the mattress is also warmer than a cold plastic top. Can’t believe how much less in price this was over the aerobeds– a no-brainer!!!

Found this to be an excellent bed, pros are longer air retention (I sleep at least 5 days before needing to turn on the pump), uniform pressure distribution. I normally do not have any back problems and this bed did not introduce any new ones after about a couple of months of regular usage. Our guests loved it, the only con I can see is that the pump is so slow – takes a minimum of 4 minutes to fill the bed from flat and takes similar time to deflate. That is negligible compared with the pros, we recommend this product to anyone that is interested in an Air bed.
