The Coleman Company has been creating and innovating products for recreational outdoor use since W.C. Coleman started selling gasoline-powered lanterns in 1900. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957–the birth of the modern cooler–and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

Coleman Tent Light Reviews

This is a really nice piece of camping kit, as it “clips” with the magnet to any part of your tent in seconds. (It’s got a pretty strong magnet bar, which goes on the outside of your tent, and the metal bracket of the light anchors it on the inside.) At first I wondered if the tight contact of the light would cause the tent to leak, and so far the answer has been a very clear and dry no.
The light is incandescent, inside a more or less traditional sealed bulb. I have had no problem with the light or bulb in the 2+ years I’ve owned this light. The lens diffuses the light nicely, so if you put this light at the crown of your tent, you will have light throughout.
My only problem with this unit is that it’s kind of big and bulky. It’s not that heavy, even with the four AA batteries installed, but it’s kind of large. In a camping world in which we’ve got wind-up LED systems and increasingly smaller lights which provide more and more light, I would think that an up-tech’d version of this light could be smaller and throw out more light. If you’re doing backwoods trekking where every ounce counts, this is probably not the solution you need. But if you’re doing family camping, car camping, or going to camps that have existing tents (summer camps, scout camps), then this is a really fantastic piece of gear.

Update, 24 July 08
Now about a year on, here are additional comments on this piece:
It continues to function just fine, but I have one complaint. I do not store this unit with batteries in it, so each time I go camping I open the case to install and then later remove the batteries.
(The case opens by way of gently pinching the two sides together at the lamp’s waist, between the on/off switch and the lower magnetic housing. There are no locks, screws, springs or mechanical latches; the two parts of the lamp are kept together only by the flex of the upper lamp housing itself.)
After a year of easy and careful use the upper plastic housing around the pinch points has started to crack. The unit still works just fine (I just got back from a week in the woods), but it’s only a matter of time now until the housing splits or a large chunk of the plastic comes off, preventing the unit from coming together and thereby ruining it.

Update, 26 May 09
The cracks at the waist are slightly bigger, and slowly growing. The light still works fine, and just served me well on yet another campout, but the day is coming when that plastic housing breaks permanently, and this light will be finished.

I love, love, love, this light.Take my word for it buy this and you will not regret it.I bought this becuase,i’m going backpacking across europe this summer.I took out my gear for a test run this weekend and fell in love with this light. The light really lit up my tent and is easy use.You can put it anywhere in tent or anywhere you need an extra light. This light runs off 4 AA batteries and takes up little space in your bag.

More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a “no light,

Coleman Cool Zephyr Ceiling Fan with Light Reviews

I’ve got two of these little fan/light combos and I love them. They’re perfect for car/canoe camping, but would be on the bulky side for backpacking. I also use them in the bunk ends of my pop up camper. They do a great job of circulating the air and fending off condensation.
Used one on a recent canoe camping trip in some pretty hot, humid weather and it allowed me to sleep comfortably and remain sane. I woke up to zero condensation in my tent as well since the air circulation was so good with the fan in use for most of the night (I did turn it off in the early morning hours because it was getting a little chilly).
The fan moves a decent amount of air for a small one or two man tent (or bunk end), and the light is adequate to read by. The night light will provide enough light to see your way around if you need it.
You can also, with the creative use of small bungee cords, direct the air flow directly on your face if you’re as hot natured as I am.
It seems to make good use of the battery power, too. I haven’t run one out of power yet.
The magnet that hold the fan in place is VERY strong, yet easy to remove with a simple twist.
The fan blades are made out of a soft foam so there’s no chance of injury from sticking a finger in the blades.
My only complaints are:
1. Switches are easily turned on when in transit (I always turn one of the batteries upside down to counter this problem).
2. The switches are impossible to see once you’ve got it up and running. So you just have to guess which switch does what and which direction to slide it. I guess over time it will become second nature, but right now I have trouble keeping it straight.
All in all, I’d say this product is everything that you would expect. I’d recommend it to anyone who will be canoe camping or car camping without electricity. I’ve been very impressed with it, as have my friends who camp with me. Several of them have told me that this is on their Christmas lists this year.

I used this in our tent for a campout. I hung it from the top of the tent and it was nice to have some light coming from above.
But for cooling or feeling the air move, you need to be within a foot or MAYBE two of the fan. Any farther than that and you don’t feel a thing. The batteries were brand new so that can’t have been why.
We live in South Florida and have been through numerous hurricanes and power outages in the last few years and I have a few battery operated fans for the entire family to use, so I can compare it to others out there. I purchased one at Bed, Bath & Beyond with which you can feel the air from 5 feet away. Now if I could only figure out how to hang it from the tent!

Wenzel Alpine 8.5 X 8-Feet Dome Tent (Light Grey/Blue/Gold) Reviews

So I took my tent out for a bachelor party weekend for my future brother in law back in March 2010 for a long weekend. Thankfully, I had the foresight to do a trial run to work out how to put the tent together because this was my first 5 sided tent. Setup was a breeze!!! Only problem I had was putting the rain cover on because I put it on facing the wrong way. It did better than expected because I set up my tent on wet ground and never felt wet the whole time. No moisture got in which is awesome when it got down to the 30s and I stayed dry. I have had a Wenzel sleeping bag for at least 15 years which is why I went with them for this tent. I will definitely use them again!

I ordered this tent to go camping with my son in the Cub Scouts and it’s ok for a beginner tent. They say its a three man tent but a dad and his 8 year old son fit OK, but a third person would have been out of the question.

Wenzel Klondike 16 X 11-Feet Eight-Person Family Cabin Dome Tent (Light Grey/Taupe/Red) Reviews

FANTASTIC! The first time we set this tent up, it was in the house, just to get an idea… Took us about 15-20 minutes. It wasn’t bad at all. But it DOES take two people!! Our first experience on the road with it took us to the Grand Canyon where we arrived at 9:00pm. It took us again less than 25-30 minutes to set it up (in the dark) using only a couple flashlights.. Do make sure you stake the corners down FIRST before you raise it. You need one person outside the tent, and one inside to raise it. After that, using the stakes to secure it was a breeze… Having so many windows and a full mesh ceiling was great for star gazing after a long day. We put a king sized mattress in the second room, and had plenty of space to move around.. This tent is so big, our puppy (Shih Tzu) named Kujo, got plenty of exercise just running from the door back into the 2nd room.
The first room is great to leave all your bags, cloths, shoes etc….and it has a floor in it, so you are not walking on dirt like some two room tents…
The 2 nights we spent at the Grand Canyon we experienced 75 mph winds.. This tent DID NOT MOVE! The only thing we could hear was the wind, not the sides flapping in the wind like most tents.. We have recieved many compliment on this tent..
I researched every 8-12 person, family tent out there with three things in mind..1) Tall enough to move and walk around in. 2) It had to have a screen ceiling. 3) Had to have shock cords…BINGO !! I HIGHLY recomend this tent to everyone. When Wenzell designed this, they found a winner…. I am so proud of this tent, We can’t wait to go on our next road trip…
Walmart had the best price of anyone.. I “researched it!”

Wenzel Great Basin 18 X 10-Feet Nine-Person Two-Room Family Dome Tent (Light Grey/Blue/Taupe) Reviews

This tent was a lot bigger than I expected it to be, which is a good thing. It is very roomy, so if you have a lot of people (or just a lot of stuff), this will work great. There is enough room for multiple adults to stand up straight without hitting their heads on the ceiling. Despite the fact that it is so big, it is very easy to set up (I set it up on my own, with no help). My only complaint is that the air circulation is rather poor. The windows are rather small compared to the size of the tent, so unless you have the rain fly off, it is very stuffy.

We were looking for something a step up from the tiny 4 (felt like 2) person tent that we had and came across this Wenzel. The price is certainly decent and we decided to get it and try it out. We’ve set it up a few times and taken it on one camping trip and here are our thoughts thus far.
Pros:
-Huge! This thing dwarfs other tents and will surely make others jealous! We filled it with a queen size air mattress, a baby’s pack-and-play, a camp chair, a ton of gear, and still only covered half the floor space and had plenty of room to walk around. You will easily forget you are sleeping in a tent. Do not underestimate the size of this thing, it is really, really big.
-Easy to set up. Just four main poles and a very straightforward rain-fly.
-Convenient. Not too heavy and folds back into its back without too much difficulty.
-Inexpensive
-Light-rain proof. Haven’t tried it in a real storm but kept a light rain/dew off.
Cons:
-Definitely requires staking on the sides. Not sure how it would hold up if you had really loose soil or sand.
-Not a cold weather tent by any means.
All in all, we were very pleased. Just two of us had no problem setting it up in

Eureka E! Power Pak Reviews

Positives
Noiseless power anywhere. With the addition of a 110 invertor, you can run most any gadget without worrying about finding an outlet.
Compact size. Too heavy by far for backpacking, car campers will love this if they’ve always wanted to be able to run their computers in their tents. Or tailgaters who have a TV to hook up and only a small spot left to pack in power.
Negatives
Eureka customer service. Don’t expect them to respond to questions posed via email and be prepared to wait a while for phone support.
Very small charge in the end. It takes 8 hours (when using your wall outlet) to charge and less than an hour to drain. They don’t mention that part in any of the pre-purchase materials. If you are running a laptop off of it, expect just under an hour. If you are running a TV, plan on 30-45 minutes, depending on the size (13 or 15 inch). Power tools get about 15 minutes. All that is spelled out clearly on the paperwork you get only after you buy.
Summary
If you are looking to power a small lamp or fan in your tent or be able to re-charge your cell phone, this works fine. If you want to use it for laptops, digital cameras and such, plan on getting less than an hour of power for an all night charge.

We purchased this battery to go with our Eureka tent which has the plug-ins. It charged fast and for us easily lasted a weekend, although we only used it at night. It has a light which tells you when it’s charging, charged and a push button to turn it on and off.
It does not come with any cords. You have to supply the cord or plug-in which is a cigarette lighter type connection.
In our case, the tent came supplied with a cord which extended through a special slot to the outside of the tent so you could sit the battery right outside the door.
This is good for using any type of 12 volt accessory such as a flashlight, DVD player, cell phone charger, or maybe a game player although I am not sure how long it would last with anything that draws much power.
We have an inverter which plugs into our truck which technically could probably recharge this battery, but I did not try that and would need to check the safety guidelines to see if that is recommended or not, but it worked great for us.

Coleman Marker Light (2-pack, Green) Reviews

…. not a flashlight or lantern of some sort. No, you’re not going to be able to read by this tiny single-LED light. What these marker lights are great for is precisely that: marking people, pets and objects you want to be able to locate in the dark. There is no spike on this item. There is instead a little clothespin-type clamp (and tiny tie-ring) that allows you to easily affix them to backpacks, tent peaks and guylines, your dog’s collar or kids’ beltloops. We use them to mark the stakes of our mess fly, so at night members of our party don’t trip on the staked guylines, or worse, like stepping on a stake in bare feet. (Ouch!) In the woods, clip a few to the tops of your tents to help find your way “home” in the dark.
The picture in the description is close to life-size. These things weigh almost nothing, and so are backpack-friendly. They are visible from a good 1000 feet away, line of sight. I’m buying more!

I have the red marker light and clip it on the dogs collar at the back of his neck. At night I can let my dog out in the yard and see where he is. They stay in place and upright. Have used the kind that hang on collars but usually the dogs head interferes with the light. This does not. Last a long time and convenient and inexpensive.
