Here’s a secret for the uninformed: This is a very popular scale with people who never weigh a single fish. This is perhaps the best inexpensive package scale you can get, and if you’re a regular eBay seller, it’s one of the best tools you cna buy for making accurate weighings for estimating shipping charges. With this scale and a plastic bag, you can weigh any package, no matter how irregularly shaped, and get a weight accurate within an ounce or two. But remember- it’s a secret!

Yes, it’s inexpensive and accurate, but the batteries don’t last long.

Even during periods of non-use, the batteries seem to drain.

I blame the designer for using CR2032 batteries (typically – each), vs., for example, AA batteries, which cost about 50 cents in small quantities. AA batteries typically have 10 times the life of CR2032s. (CR2032s usually are rated around 220 mAh, while alkaline AAs are often over 2500 mAh.)

So it’s a nice scale, but don’t leave it in your tackle box for a few months and expect it to work. Keep some extra CR2032s handy.

Checked this product at six weight points over a weight range of 2 to 35lbs. Scale was found to be accurate to less than 2% error maximum over this range. Average error was less than 1%. Consistency of (same) weight applied repeatedly in the same manner was displayed as similar to overall accuracy. Display of weight stabilized quickly and held steady after weight application.

Would have preferred having a waterproof rather than water resistant unit case.
